The Story Behind: You Are All I Need

A painting born from a whisper, a flower, and a moment of courage.

I had just returned from a journey.

My suitcase heavy, my body tired – and then I stopped.

There, by the river Neckar, something caught my eye:

Tiny white blossoms.

So small, and yet so loud in their quietness.

I didn’t know their name, but they called me to pause.

So I picked them.

I laid them out to dry.

It felt like the right moment. I didn’t know why.

A few days later, walking home from the studio – again, heavy with work and thoughts – I saw them:

Two Japanese women in traditional garments, photographing each other beneath the spring light.

There was something still, almost ceremonial, about them.

And inside me, a voice:

„Ask them.“

My mind resisted – no time, no reason.

But my heart knew: Now or never.

I asked. They smiled. They said yes.

I took the photo. Just one.

And from that moment, the painting began.

Back in the studio, with the white flowers now dry, I started.

Two women, walking toward the moon.

One wore green. The other, violet.

The image almost painted itself.

But after pouring the resin, something unexpected happened:

The violet… vanished.

The color disappeared.

Not faded – gone.

No explanation. No logic.

And yet:

The painting had made a choice.

As if the fabric chose the moon.

As if the story knew itself better than I did.

Later I looked up the name of the flower:

Schlingknöterich.

In many cultures, it stands for resilience, adaptability, silent strength.

It grows through cracks, wraps around obstacles, connects what seems separate.

Sometimes it’s even seen as a symbol of devotion.

And somehow, all of that lives in this painting.

Two women,

One moment of courage,

One flower,

And the quiet knowledge:

You are all I need.

The artwork exists.

And soon, the video will follow.

A deeper dive into what moved me, what appeared, and what this painting continues to whisper.

Until then –

let the image speak.
